Root Toolkit for Android™

Note: This utility does NOT root your Android™ device—it assumes that your device is already rooted.

I developed this root utility to streamline and automate various root functions that are typically found in different apps, but not all in one place.

FEATURES:

• Display current root and device status.
• Reboot options (normal, recovery, bootloader).
• Power off the device.
• Remount rootfs (/) and/or /system in read-write or read-only mode; note: remount behavior changed in Android™ 4.2 and higher, causing the remount effect to be useful only for the app that initiated it.
• Save (protect) / restore root function; for devices running 4.2 and earlier with ext2/3/4 /system partitions, and for devices running 4.3 and above using Pau Oliva's 4.3+ keeproot.sh functionality; no decision has been made yet regarding saving root for 5.0+.
• Freeze (disable) or thaw (enable) an application; use caution when freezing a system app; see the settings menu to enable the display of system apps.
• Display system (getprop) property values.
• Calculate an MD5 or SHA1 checksum on any file; navigate to the selected file, long-press the filename, and select the desired action.
• Options for selected Nexus devices:
  • Flash a stock recovery.
  • Flash various custom recoveries.
  • Make recovery "stick" (prevent the stock recovery from overwriting your custom recovery).
  • Identify the currently installed recovery.
• Bootloader lock, unlock, status; applicable to select Nexus devices: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2nd gen 2013), Nexus 10.
• A small (<25mb) partition backup function is now supported in version 3.9; note: this is NOT meant as a Nandroid backup replacement, but rather for backing up small, critical partitions to assist with device recovery; also note that there is no restore function included since the target partition is likely still open/mounted; this feature is especially useful for backing up special partitions like EFS.

• ACCESS_SUPERUSER: Permission to support interaction with SuperSU (now deprecated).
